Additional measures have been taken in the Republic of Belarus in order to prevent the importation and spread of infection caused by the Сoronavirus COVID-19

On 14 October 2020 the National Legal Internet Portal published the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus from 13 October 2020 No. 591 «On amendments to the Resolutions of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus No. 171 dated March 25, 2020 and No. 208 dated April 8, 2020», which comes into force from 15 October 2020.

The document establishes that persons who arrived in the Republic of Belarus from countries in which cases of COVID-19 are registered, as well as those who were in transit through these countries, in the absence of documentary confirmation of their stay in the transit countries for no more than 24 hours, must be in self-isolation within 10 calendar days from the date of arrival in the Republic of Belarus (previously this period was 14 calendar days) and are not subject to subsequent passage through the State border of the Republic of Belarus (until the expiration of the period of self-isolation).

The List of countries in which cases of COVID-19 are registered is posted on the official website of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus.

New - starting from 15 October 2020 foreign citizens and stateless persons, with the exception of permanent residents of the Republic of Belarus, who arrived from countries not included in the list, when crossing the State Border of the Republic of Belarus must have an original medical document (in Russian, Belarusian or English languages), confirming a negative laboratory test result for COVID-19 infection, performed by PCR no later than 72 hours before the date of crossing the State Border of the Republic of Belarus).

Border service officers and customs officials (at the border crossing points at which border control is carried out by customs authorities) control the availability of the specified medical document and also issue to persons, arriving from countries included in the List of countries in which cases of COVID-19 are registered, the arrival questionnaire and, if necessary, the requirement to comply with the rules of conduct in self-isolation.

The requirements for self-isolation and the need to have a medical document do not apply to drivers of vehicles intended for international road transport, as well as the transport of international mail.
